Interview Techniques & Coaching

“I’d like to share with you a little about my background.  I find Clients feel more comfortable knowing who I am and why I am a Career Consultant and Success Coach.”

- Suzanne Johnstone (Managing Director & Founder)

Have you ever “bombed” in an Interview?

You managed to make through all of the challenges of writing a Cover Letter and Resume/CV, you actually managed to Connect to the ATS and get a Ranking that got you noticed, only to have the Telephone or Face-to-Face Interview “CRASH & BURN”?

I HAVE!

If I knew then what I know now, I guarantee that I would have walked out of that Face-to-Face interview either “winning” the job or being in a self-empowered state of mind when I declined their offer.

Why would I feel self-empowered from declining a job offer?

Because what a lot of Job Seekers and Recruiters and/or Employers don’t factor into the process, is that the Recruiters and/or Employers are not the only ones being INTERVIEWED.

Let’s go back to the Job Seeker Services page…

So many Job Seekers fail to recognise their SKILLS.

They don’t know the RULES.

And if they can obtain an interview, often they don’t leave an IMPRESSION that leads to a JOB OFFER.

They fail to recognise their WORTH and if you convey a lack of CONFIDENCE in your skills and abilities, why would an Employer see past your own DOUBT?

You need to be prepared for the Interview.

  1. Have you CUSTOMISED your application to the Job Advertisement?
I’m guessing you have, otherwise you wouldn’t have reached a Ranking that got you to this point…

  2. Have you listed the Key Criteria and other information in the Job Advertisement and write your answers next to them before your Interview?

  3. Have you researched the Employer?
This may be difficult if you are interviewing with a Recruiter.
Due to the competitive nature of the Recruitment Industry, Recruiters tend to hold the name of their Client pretty “close to their chest”.  You may not even know who the Employer is before you are interviewed.

  4. You are allowed to ask questions!  That is part of "Interviewing the Interviewer"…
If successful, you will be spending the vast majority of your waking hours working for and with this Employer.  Depending on whether you want a Job or a Career, this is a BIG decision for YOU

  5. If a Face-to-Face Interview, are you appropriately dressed?
An Interview is a “Business Transaction”.  You only get 1 chance to make a 1st IMPRESSION!

  6. Have you reviewed your References?
Are they aware that you are applying for a new role?
Are you confident that they will give you a positive Reference?
Are their Contact Details still current?

Do you recognise your WORTH?

Are you CONFIDENT in your skills and abilities?

Do you have any DOUBT about whether this Employer is a good “fit” for your GOALS?

Remember that “you wanting them” is just as important as “them wanting you”…

In today’s Job Market, the odds ARE stacked against the average Job Seeker.

You must SELL yourself.

You must look at the Job Application Process through the eyes of the Recruiter and/or Employer.

Now that you have made it to the Interview Stage, ask yourself…

How can I “Close the Deal / Get the Job Offer”?

That's where we come in...

It's really as simple as that...
